Our 10thAnniversary -A Welcome from the Executive Director

January 2008
marks the 10th year of The Sports Philanthropy Project. In a world where organizations come and go,
we are very proud of our achievement. We
are also proud of the achievements of all of you—our partners—who have worked
so tirelessly and in such good faith, in conjunction with SPP and on your own, in
order to achieve unprecedented progress in our field. We extend to you our heartfelt thanks, as
well as to our founders at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and to Delores Barr
Weaver—people who have been with us all the way.
Over the past decade, we have come more to
understand the uniqueness of sports philanthropy, and to believe even
more fervently in its as-yet only partially realized potential. We pledge to you that as we move ahead,
whenever we serve to help a foundation or corporation achieve its public goals;
whenever we provide a sports philanthropy with knowledge and assistance; we shall
never compromise in our mission to harness the power of sports and the sports
industry for the maximum benefit of the communities in which we live. Here’s to another great 10 years!
Yours in philanthropy, Greg
